FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Multi-Platinum Group SILK Sued by Management
For CONSPIRACY, FRAUD & BREACH OF CONTRACT

(January 23, 2004) HOUSTON, TX – Houston entertainment manager, Michael J. Matthews of MJM Management Company has filed a lawsuit against the multi-platinum R & B group “SILK.” The suit is filed for breach contract and non-compliance of the terms of the agreement. Mr. Matthews’ attorney, Raymond Mbala of the law firm Mbala & Williams in Dallas, Texas filed the suit December 2nd, in Harris County-Houston, Texas. According to the lawsuit on file, Mr. Matthews contends that SILK Music Group, Inc., formed by and under the direction of Johnathon Rasboro, Jimmy Gates Jr., Timothy Cameron, and Gary Glenn p/k/a as “SILK,” has breached and wrongfully denied MJM Management Company its rights under and related to an artist management agreement. Mr. Matthews further alleges that Silk engaged in tortuous interference with the MJM Management contract, conspiracy to commit tortuous interference with that contract, fraud, business disparagement as well as other acts of misconduct.

According to the suit filed, SILK secretly negotiated a record distribution deal with other named co-defendants Liquid 8 and Navarre Corporation. The deal negotiated between the parties excluded MJM Management Company. The lawsuit further alleges that the group has been performing concert dates that deprived compensation to MJM Management. The loss of compensation includes payments from those engagements, the recording deal consummated, and earnings from sales of records as released by SMG/Liquid 8/Navarre. MJM Management Company is also seeking payment for additional managerial services and lost profit from future business endeavors.

Mr. Matthews maintains that he worked diligently and procured numerous opportunities in an effort to fuel SILK’s musical comeback. “In an industry where patience exhorts virtue, the group neglected to retrain their patience and focus.” explains Mr. Matthews. “They choose to resort to their own way of doing things which was unfortunate and very unprofessional. The way they handled their business was all wrong,” according to Mr. Matthews. As a result, SILK seriously damaged Mr. Matthews and his management firm’s trade name in the music industry. Mr. Matthews also maintains that the wrongful acts committed by the Defendant SILK has harmed MJM Management’s chances to secure future earnings resulting from working with the famed platinum artist and has significantly reduced the company’s chances of garnering the interest of other renowned artists for representation. In response to questions about the lawsuit’s outcome, Mr Matthews stated “I feel very confident about the evidence I have that supports my claims, and I feel that any judge or jury will rule in my favor once those facts are brought out.
